To be able to position yourself as the go-to expert in your particular industry you need to provide your clients, fans and readers with true value.
Curating and sharing relevant content from various reliable sources is a great way to do this, and Feedly is one of the most popular web-based tools available online.
Feedly lets you read all your favourite blogs from one single place, without having to check their sites for new updates.
Following are a few simple how-to-tips to create and personalize your own content dashboard using Feedly and to always share the best and most valuable updates:
Set up a Feedly account.
Go to Feedly.com and click Login in the upper right corner to create your account. A new pop up window will appear asking you to connect with Google, Facebook, or Twitter, Microsoft Windows, and Evernote.
Search for relevant content.
Use the search bar in the top right corner or click Add Content on the left side menu to type in:
• the full URL of the website or RSS feed that you want to follow;
• the name of the website or blog of your interest (if they have feeds); or
• the topics you want to know more about, with a hashtag (#) in front.
The search will return sites that feature that kind of content that you are looking for. You can add these subscriptions to Feedly by clicking the green + icon and arrange them in your existing or new categories.
To make subscribing even easier there’s a handy Feedly Subscribe Button that you can freely download for the browser of your choice – Chrome or Firefox.
Organize your feeds into an easy-to-follow outline.
Clicking the Organize button will take you to a separate page where you can create new or organize your feeds into the existing categories of similar articles. Here you can also rename and delete your categories or drag and drop them to change their order in the navigation bar.
Feedly also allows you to assign different views to each of your sources, choosing between Titles and Summary, Titles Only, Grid (text and image in a rectangular type of format), or Entire Content Inlined.
Take action on the articles.
If you see an interesting article that you’d like to get back to, you can click the bookmark icon at the top of the post and mark it as Saved for Later.
You can also add custom tags, mark your favorite articles, or save them directly to your Evernote or Pocket account.
For the posts you’re certain you want to share with your audience simply select the channel – Twitter, Facebook, Hootsuite, Buffer, etc, to schedule the updates to be broadcasted across the day.
The Pro version also supports IFTTT which lets you automate sharing to a whole load of different apps.
